My house has a block and beam floor..... (Jan 21, 2005)

This need not be a big issue as a standard floor would be compatible in most cases. There is a school of thought that the conservatory floor should be the same construction as the house, depending on the reasons for the block and beam being initially specified. We do fit block and beam floors using concrete beams and occasionally even timber. This is particularly beneficial where less weight is required than a slab floor in areas where the soil is prone to more than average shrinkage.

Another good reason for using this floor is where the floor level is particularly high, needing several steps to reach the level of the garden.
